P45

« Back to Glossary Index

A P45 is a document you receive from your employer when you leave a job. It details your earnings and the tax you’ve paid so far in the current tax year. You’ll need your P45 when starting a new job, claiming benefits, or sorting out your Self Assessment tax return. It helps make sure you pay the right amount of tax in your new role.
