PAYE (Pay As You Earn)

« Back to Glossary Index

PAYE (Pay As You Earn) is the system employers use to deduct income tax and National Insurance from employees’ wages before they’re paid. The employer then sends this money directly to HMRC. PAYE makes tax payments automatic for most employees, helping ensure you don’t underpay or overpay tax during the year.
