The CWF1 is the HMRC form you use to register as self-employed or as a sole trader in the UK. It tells HMRC that you’ve started working for yourself and need to pay tax through Self Assessment and National Insurance Contributions. These days, the process is often completed online, but you’ll still hear people (and HMRC) refer to the CWF1.
