The Dividend Allowance is the amount of dividend income you can receive each tax year before you have to pay tax on it. Any dividends you get from shares—above this allowance—are taxed at special dividend rates. The government sometimes changes the allowance, so keep an eye on the latest figures if you own shares or receive dividends from your company.
