Sole Trader

« Back to Glossary Index

A sole trader is the simplest form of business structure in the UK—just one person running a business as an individual. You keep all the profits after tax, but you’re personally responsible for any losses or debts. Sole traders must register with HMRC, keep business records, and file an annual Self Assessment tax return.
