Statutory Residence Test

« Back to Glossary Index

The Statutory Residence Test (SRT) is the official set of rules that determine if you’re considered a UK resident for tax purposes in a given tax year. The test looks at the number of days you spend in the UK, where you work, and your personal connections. Your residency status affects how much of your income is subject to UK tax.
